Bissantz SparkMaker Palo Edition - sparklines for Palo open source OLAP database

SparkMaker is now available in a special free edition for the open source OLAP database Palo.

What is Palo?

Palo is an open-source OLAP database. Its heart is the Palo-Server, a cell-oriented, multi-dimensional data server which is specifically developed for spreadsheet data storage and analysis. Palo-Server provides a central database for Enterprise Spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel and offers interfaces to many third-party databases provided by SAP, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle. Palo-Server is developed and maintained by Jedox. A free Excel add-in provided by Jedox connects Microsoft Excel with the Palo-Server and allows to store and read Palo data in Excel. No Palo data is stored in Excel Workbooks.

SparkMaker Palo Edition

Reports and analyses created in Excel based on Palo data now benefit from Bissantz' sparkline technology. A special Palo edition of SparkMaker provides all features of the traditional Basic edition for free for more than a year (currently at least until end of June 2010). The only condition is that Excel is used in combination with Palo-Server. You can use all single-color sparkline functions of SparkMaker to create sparklines in your Excel sheets.

SparkMaker Palo Edition checks whether you have the Palo Excel add-in installed and running for access of the Palo-Server before you can use the sparkline functions. During the first 30 days of installation you will even benefit from the Pro edition of SparkMaker which additionally provides multi-color functions as well as support for sparklines in Word and PowerPoint. After the initial trial period has ended the Palo edition will be available until end of June 2010.

Usage of SparkMaker Palo Edition is the same as in every other Excel sheet with the only difference that certain data source cells for sparkline functions will contain data retrieved from the Palo-Server. An example Excel sheet with sparklines based on the Palo demo database is shipped together with SparkMaker.

How to obtain SparkMaker Palo Edition

To start using SparkMaker Palo Edition, please download and install the regular SparkMaker setup and provide us with a valid email address (see below). We will automatically send you a license key which is required to make the standard installation a Palo Edition. To download the Palo-Server itself, please switch to the Palo website.

Please make sure that the email address entered above is correct. Without the license key we are going to send you, you cannot turn a standard SparkMaker installation into a Palo Edition one. We will never share or sell your address.
