Data analysis depends on both investigating suspected connections and discovering new, unsuspected connections. The most useful information is often discovered through a combination of both.
The follwoing statements exemplify what insights can be gained from the ready-to-use analysis methods DeltaMaster offers in its library.
Characteristics comparison
- Customers who only have a checking account and whose account movements fall into the "high" class will increasingly cancel their accounts in the coming months.
- Young women with their primary residence in a university city are more likely than average to take out a magazine subscription.
Component comparison
- The building color "Blue Aqua" achieves low revenues, however above average rebates are offered.
- Component X was produced most frequently and has the lowest quantity of defects.
- Age group Z has the lowest share of the population, but is involved in accidents most often.
Concentration comparison
- 70 % of our gross earnings come from only 15 % of our product range.
- Together, the three largest breweries account for 80 % of the total volume sold.
- Success or failure of the toys department depends on model X, which is responsible for 50 % of the revenues.
Connection comparison
- No connections are recognizable between the experience of the retailer and revenues; however there is a connection between frequency of visits and revenues as well as the age of the retailer and revenues.
- The variable pairs with the strongest connections are location/revenues, location/product range and age group/product range.
Correlation comparison
- The revenue figures from May to December show no evidence of a connection between success and retailer experience.
- The insurance fees climb with the income of the insured party.
- The revenues of each region do not vary with the number of free product samples issued.
Dependency comparison
- The revenues is affected most strongly by the number of visits.
- The brand name has a stronger influence on sales than alternative packaging.
Deviation comparison
- Two of the three branches collapsed after government contracts were canceled.
- Production department Y is responsible for the slip in revenues experienced in May.
- Increased sales of cord suits in department store chains in metropolitan areas contributed 70 % of the plan overshoot.
Frequency comparison
- In May, most contracts were in the 400-700 euro range.
- Queries are usually answered within three to five days.
- Last year, the fluctuation was at its highest in the 30-35 year-old age-group.
Group comparison
- Friday shoppers are significantly older than Saturday shoppers.
- Practices operating in high revenue regions are more likely to be group practices.
- Group A may be described as "Customers with relevant product experience, high quality expectations and reasonable price expectations".
Position comparison
- Business division X is positioned in an attractive market, but our development so far has been poor.
- Product Y is a star, the market situation allows us to reach high profit margins and we have gained a high market share.
- Competitor Z is better positioned than us.
Ranking comparison
- Children's scooters are the moneyspinners in the product range.
- In a customer survey, the cosmetics department got the best grades.
- The Messerschmidt company is our third largest supplier.
Regional comparisons
- The greatest revenue growth at the moment is in the rural areas.
- Construction activity levels in the new German states are higher than in the old states.
- The catchment area of our Nuremberg office ranges approx. 50km.
Segment comparison
- The manufacturer Fructa has a fruit juice market share of 30 %, however in the 30 to 35 age group, the share is over 50 %.
- Holiday makers from Norway only form a low share of all those who stay overnight; in the month of November, however, they form 70 % of the guests.
- 40 % of the test group could remember the advertisement, however in the "blue" design variant it was 54 %.
Shopping cart comparison
- Customers who buy bread buy butter more often than others.
- If an automatic transmission is ordered, a metallic finish is also ordered in 70 % of the cases.
- "Esentia" fertilizer and potassium-rich soil conditions lead to a high crop yield of average stem length.
Structure comparison
- Component X is sold most and has the lowest rate of failure.
- The sales manager spends only 15 % of his time in the field.
- The largest part of the advertising budget goes on print media.
Target-Actual comparison
- We are seriously behind the plan in both of the first two periods, however still within the permissible corridor.
- The remaining time is still enough to compensate for the deviations which have occurred so far.
- Upon entering the plan values for the remaining periods, a total deviation of 5 % remains unchanged.
Time series comparison
- Revenues have climbed steadily since January.
- Expenditure for interest has been increasing steeply for five years.
- The spirits department shows strong seasonal effects.
