It wasn't just General Motors that had an amusing comeback at the ready when automobile manufacturers were compared critically to the software industry, of all people. After all, it's not as if our industry didn't provide plenty of cause for questions. With cars, we're grateful that not every manufacturer has their own ideas about where to put the indicators, brake and gas pedal.

Test drives

Choosing the right software also tends be difficult. When test driving a car, we can at least make sure that all four wheels are on properly. When you buy software, you sometimes find something falls out of the cardboard box that you never even knew you'd bought in the first place.
